Product Code:SAE AMS4970
Title:Titanium Alloy, Bars, Wire, and Forgings 7a1 4mo, Solution and Precipitation Heat Treated
Issuing Committee:Ams G Titanium And Refractory Metals Committee
Scope:This specification covers a titanium alloy in the form of bars, wire, forgings, and forging stock. Primarily for parts requiring strength up to 900 degrees F (482 degrees C). Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these products to become subject to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP982 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.MIL-STD-336, MILITARY STANDARD: WELDING, FLASH, STANDARD LOW CARBON STEEL (06 AUG 1987) [SUPERSEDES MIL-W-62160] [S/S BY MIL-HDBK-507]., This document contains information on a welding process where fusion isachieved over the entire abutting surfaces of two plates, bars or tubes withoututilization of filler metal in one welding operation. This fusion is achieved bythe heat generated by the resistance to the flow of electric current between thefaying surfaces followed by the application of pressure when the required heatingis completed.
